- How does the household budget work? Westara keeps the plan separate from real spending: Budget is your year plan, Actuals is what was actually booked. The Overview puts both next to your wealth.
- How is my yearly plan built, and what does AI check? Westara builds your year plan from your household history: under Budget → Build plan, the Actuals you've recorded become planned amounts. Westara calculates the plan from your numbers, not the AI. On Budget AI, the AI then analyzes plan vs actual for a month (Solo and Family).
- How do I build a plan from my Actuals? Under Budget, tap Build plan once you have Actuals. Westara copies your booked months and, if you want, estimates the rest of the year.
- How do I create my own budget categories? Under Household → Custom categories. Your own categories then appear in Budget, Actuals, Rules and when matching bank imports.
- What does 'Ready to assign' mean? Ready to assign is the cash you can still put into the plan this month: linked cash under Holdings → Cash, minus the amounts already assigned to categories this month.
- What does 'This month' mean on Budget? The This month line appears on Budget and the Overview when this month's actual net noticeably differs from the year plan, up or down, with the euro amount.
- Can I edit my budget offline? Partly: if you turn it on under Profile → Advanced, budget changes made without a connection are queued on this device. Otherwise Westara needs an internet connection.
