How do I build a plan from my Actuals?

In short

Under Budget, tap Build plan once you have Actuals. Westara copies your booked months and, if you want, estimates the rest of the year.

The options in the sheet

  • Scope: Logged months or Full year (January to December).
  • Empty months:
Smart: bills keep their rhythm (monthly, quarterly, yearly) across the whole year. Flexible spending uses the average, unless the months already look quarterly or half-yearly. One-offs stay in the months they were booked.
Average: the category average across the logged months.
Last month: repeats the last logged month for each category.
  • When a month already has a plan: Replace plan or Fill empty only.
  • Turn spending and income on or off separately, Skip account transfers, and Exclude this month from averages while the month is still running.

If contracts are turned on, their rhythm can show which month a yearly or quarterly bill belongs in.

Preview and apply

The preview shows what comes From actuals and what is Projected. If most categories are based on just one month, Westara points this out. Apply to forecast writes only planned amounts. Your Actuals stay.

Typical flow

Import a bank statement into Actuals → check categories → save → Build plan → fine-tune single cells in the year table.

In the app
