Westara

How is my yearly plan built, and what does AI check?

In short

Westara builds your year plan from your household history: under Budget → Build plan, the Actuals you've recorded become planned amounts. Westara calculates the plan from your numbers, not the AI. On Budget AI, the AI then analyzes plan vs actual for a month (Solo and Family).

1. A plan from your household history

  1. Open Budget and tap Build plan in the toolbar (or Build year plan if there are no plan rows yet).

  2. In the Plan for {year} sheet, pick the Year: This year or Next year.

  3. Scope: Logged months (only months with Actuals, no estimate) or Full year (January to December).

  4. Empty months: Smart, Average or Last month.

  5. When a month already has a plan: Replace plan or Fill empty only.

  6. In the Preview, check what comes From actuals and what is Projected, then tap Apply to forecast.

Only planned amounts are written. Your recorded Actuals stay untouched. More on the options: How do I build a plan from my Actuals?

2. Analyze plan vs actual on Budget AI

  1. Open Budget AI in the sidebar.

  2. Choose the Month to analyze and, optionally, use Your question to say what the AI should look at.

  3. Tap Run analysis. You get Key findings, What-if scenarios and Next steps for your plan, plus Plan vs actual by category charts. Export PDF saves the result.

Budget AI only uses the data from Budget and Actuals and doesn't import any bank data. Each analysis uses AI credits. The suggestions are calculations to help with your household plan, not financial advice. You make any change to the plan yourself.
