Both work and you can combine them: the CSV file covers your full history, and the direct connection keeps new trades up to date automatically.
Both routes write the same Activity entries on this depot. CSV first and then the connection (or the other way round) won't book anything twice. The same security on a different account is a separate position.
CSV
Drop Account Activity or Closed Positions (save as CSV from Excel, or paste the table). Use the file for history the interface doesn't provide.
Direct connection
Paste the Public key and Private key into the depot once. A daily sync plus fetching keep later trades, open positions and real crypto up to date. The interface delivers less than a year per request. Older years stay with the CSV.
When you disconnect, you can optionally clear imported eToro rows on this depot. Manual activity stays.
