Westara

How does Westara calculate cost basis (FIFO)?

Advanced
In short

Westara uses oldest lots first (FIFO), both for open positions and for the realised result on sells. Many German brokers show cost basis the same way.

After an import or changes

On Holdings, tap Sync from Activity so the holdings are recalculated.

Realized and Closed

  • Realized (Reports → Realized and sell rows in Activity): the result per sell, including fees and taxes at the time of the sale, without dividends.
  • Closed (Reports → Closed): one row per fully sold position, including the dividends received while you held it. That's why Closed can differ from the sum of realised sells.

Cost basis looks wrong

If the quantity matches your bank but the cost basis doesn't, check for missing older buys, duplicate imports or an import window that's too short.

Watched Bitcoin wallet

Incoming transactions are valued at that day's BTC/EUR rate, so only approximately. Outgoing transactions don't count as sells. You add your real purchase price yourself.

The calculation is not tax advice.
