Cost basis, instrument IDs, Open Banking, FX, and re-import detail — when you need the math
When a watch-only BTC wallet is connected, Sync imports confirmed on-chain receives and spends into Activity (`btc:{txid}:in|out:…`). Separately, confirmed UTXO balance owns open quantity after every full Sync.
If the sum of BTC quantity in Activity (chain imports and any manual rows) does not equal that UTXO balance, Westara inserts one synthetic adjustment so Holdings match the real wallet:
- Notes: On-chain balance reconciliation
- External ref: `btc:reconcile:{accountId}` — the UUID is your Westara account id, not a Bitcoin transaction id
- Type: transfer_in (chain holds more than the ledger) or transfer_out (chain holds less)
- Date: the day of the last full Sync, not a block time
This is expected, not a second chain source. Common reasons:
- Manual Activity on that wallet (buys, opening balance, deposits you logged yourself) — most common
- Connected without Replace BTC ledger while old rows still existed → double-count
- Rare gaps: very busy addresses (history capped), or incomplete indexer history while current UTXOs are correct
Fees on pure chain history are already implied by full spends and change; you usually do not get a reconcile row for fees alone when only chain imports exist.
What to do: Prefer Sync for on-chain activity; use manual rows only for cost basis or notes. For a clean chain-only ledger, reconnect with Replace BTC ledger (or disconnect, wipe on-chain imports, clear leftover manuals, reconnect). Do not hand-edit or permanently delete the reconcile row — the next full Sync deletes and rewrites it until quantities match (or removes it when they already match).
This is different from the Actuals bank reconcile badge and from Holdings vs Activity checks on equities.
