Captain tracks BTC balances and live EUR marks in Fleet — it never holds your keys. For actual custody, many captains split cold family treasury from a small hot spending balance and use Captain only as the family dashboard.
**Cold storage (family wealth)** — **SeedSigner** for significant holdings: a simple, air-gapped hardware signer you build yourself. It stays offline; you scan QR codes to sign. Ideal when the amount is real family wealth — minimal attack surface and full control of your seed.
**Sparrow** — a calm desktop wallet for viewing UTXOs, coin control, and multisig. Pair it with your own Bitcoin node (e.g. on Start9) or trusted Electrum servers; connect SeedSigner (or other hardware) when you spend from cold storage.
**Hot wallet (small spends)** — **BULL** (by Bull Bitcoin) is a self-custodial mobile wallet for everyday amounts on your phone: Lightning and Liquid for quick, low-cost payments. Keep only what you are comfortable losing on a hot device; park the rest cold with SeedSigner + Sparrow.
Typical flow: hold long-term BTC in Sparrow + SeedSigner, keep a small spending balance in BULL for Lightning/Liquid, log opening balances or buys in Logbook with symbol BTC on wallet accounts (separate cold vs hot if you track both), track under Fleet → BTC (cash accounts are for fiat treasury), and let CoinGecko feed Bridge totals.
