Westara

A sample household

From Sunday night to Monday morning.

Miriam and Stefan, Lena and Jonas. Two banks, a portfolio, a mortgage and a household plan that never matches the account. Here is how their money comes together, in six scenes.

Sample data. This is a Monday morning in Westara. Invented household, invented figures – not a testimonial.

  1. 01 Sunday, 9 pm

Three apps, one PDF, one #REF!

Three banking apps are open, plus the quarterly portfolio PDF and Finances_final_v7.xlsx – cell F12 says #REF!. From the sofa, Stefan asks: “So? Where do we stand?” Miriam roughly knows. Not exactly.

  2. 02 The numbers come in

    Files in, duplicates out.

Miriam uploads the CSV from the main bank, the CAMT statement from savings and the broker’s portfolio file. Broker files (e.g. an IBKR Flex export) have their own importers, plus a mapping table if a column does not fit. If she uploads the same file again next week, nothing is booked twice.

  3. 03 Cash

€200 from the ATM – and where it went.

Stefan takes out €200 on Saturday. A rule for ATM bookings posts the withdrawal to the cash account. Later he splits it: €120 farmers’ market, €80 birthday party. He picks the categories himself.

  4. 04 The plan next to what was booked

    August: €2,914.60 of €3,200.

The year plan sits right next to what was booked – with your categories, payee rules and splits. From the months already logged, Westara drafts the rest of the year. Miriam changes two lines. The draft is hers.

  5. 05 What you own

Even what sits in no account.

The portfolio gets new prices about every 15 minutes, each marked live, delayed or stale. The mortgage counts with its remaining principal. And because Miriam switched it on, the flat is in there too – at the value she entered herself. Not an appraisal, her number.

  6. 06 Monday, 7 am

    One picture. One number.

What was planned, what was booked, what you own – one number, in euros. On the Family plan everyone has their own login; Me / person / All shows one person or the whole household. Stefan’s question from last night now has an answer.

Your Monday morning can look just like this.

Start with the files you already have: CSV and CAMT work on every plan.

Not a bank. Not investment, tax, or legal advice.
